Tikal

Nestled among the tropical rainforests Tikal is one of the largest archaeological sites and urban centers of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization and was declared UNESCO world heritage site in 1979. Dating back to the 4th century BC, Tikal has been completely mapped and covers an area greater than 16 square kilometers that included about 3000 structures.
