A voyage to explore the diversity of the Peruvian Andes, taking you back to a time of ancient citadels and colonial cities, framed by the stunning mountain scenery, steeped in tradition and unchanged over the centuries. We stay overnight in the remote Colca Canyon where locals still harvest the pre-Inca terraces, and on the beautifully serene Sun Island with its spectacular views of Lake Titicaca and the distant snow covered peaks.
Day 1
Morning departure on Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday, arriving Lima
the same day in the evening.
Day 2
Morning transfer for your flight to Arequipa. Afternoon tour of
this 'White City', the Cathedral and the Santa Catalina Convent.

Days 3-4
Morning departure to reach the Colca Canyon, stopping at small
villages along the way. Overnight at our rural lodge. Catch sight
of the condors rising on the morning thermals at Cruz del Condor.
Continue by road to Puno, staying at our hotel
overlooking Lake Titicaca (B,L)
Day 5
Morning visit to the floating reed islands of Uros. Skirt the lake
to arrive in
Copacabana, on the Bolivian shores. Take the boat across to Sun
Island. We spend
the night at our tranquil hilltop hotel. (B,L)
Day 6
Morning walk and tour of Sun Island, offering dazzling views of
the lake and distant cordillera. After lunch return to Copacabana
and on to Puno. (B,L)
Day 7
Full day train journey, part of the Orient Express group, across
the altiplano
to Cusco. A wonderful scenic journey with lunch served as the
Andean mountain landscape passes by. (B,L)
Day 8
Morning tour of Cusco, including the Cathedral, Plaza de Armas,
Coricancha and the Inca site at Sacsayhuamán watching over Cusco.

Day 9
Full day excursion into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the
local market at Chinchero, Maras' pre-Inca salt mines, and the
hillside Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo and Pisac. (B,L)
Day 10
Transfer to the railway station to catch the vistadome train
journey through the mountains to AguasCalientes. Then bus up to
Machu Picchu, a guided tour of the site and lunch. Afternoon free
to explore. We spend 1 night in the valley below. (B,L)
Day 11
Morning free to explore and afternoon return to Cusco by bus and
train. (B)
Day 12
Day at leisure giving you the opportunity to explore the beautiful
historical city of Cusco. (B)
Day 13-14 Morning flight to Lima. Afternoon tour of colonial Lima
including the area surrounding the Presidential Palace, Plaza San
Martín and a visit to the Larco Herrera Museum. 1 night in Lima.
Afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight
back home, arriving Day 15. (B)
Longer Duration Tour:
The suggested extended tour (time permitting) is a 15 night itinerary, including 1 extra night in Colca Canyon and 1 extra night on Sun Island.
