Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu

The magical site of Machu Picchu, so perfectly hidden it is not surprising that it took so long to discover.

The railway line out of Cusco climbs over the hills, slowly scaling higher and higher, granting us a fascinating view over the city from above, the red tiles of the colonial houses stretching into the distance. It then travels over the mountains to reach the "Sacred Valley of the Incas", following the Urubamba River to the ruins of Ollantaytambo, from where the railway line is the only way to reach Aguas Calientes, the tropical foot of Machu Picchu. From here we take a bus for half an hour and follow a winding road up the mountain before we finally glimpse of Machu Picchu
