Andes and Angel Falls
Our Tour takes you through traditional villages in the Andes and the unique flat top mountains, the Tepuis, at Canaima to fly over the "Angel Falls". Add the beautiful tropical beaches on the Caribbean Sea at Los Roques, the savannah plains of Los Llanos, ideal for birdwatching and the rainforest Lodge on the Orinoco for a complete view of Venezuela.
8 night itinerary:
- Caracas (Maiquetia) - 1 night
- Mérida - 2 nights
- Ciudad Bolívar - 1 night
- Canaima/Angel Falls - 2 nights
- Margarita Island - 2 nights
Days 1-2
Depart on a daytime flight arriving Caracasin the evening.
Overnight in Maiquetia. The following day we fly to Mérida, in the
Andean mountains of Venezuela. Afternoon city tour visiting the
centre and its colonial architecture.(B)
Day 3
Full day visiting the Venezuelan Páramos to admire stunning
sceneries over endless mountains, visiting colonial towns such as
Jaji, the Andean condor research and breeding station and the
famous stone church, a Unesco heritage. (B, L)
Day 4
Today we fly to Ciudad Bolívar, located on the shores of the
Orinoco River. Enjoy a half day tour of this colonial city and the
Orinoco River promenade. Stay 1 night at our charming posada
located in the colonial city centre. (B)
Days 5-6
Fly to Canaima, home to the Angel Falls and the Lost World. A land
of the mysterious Tepuis, or table mountains, impetuous rivers and
numerous waterfalls in the Canaima National Park. Our lodge is
situated on Canaima lagoon, from where we take a boat to the Salto
El Sapo waterfall. Walking behind the refreshing, clear curtains of
water, we arrive at a vantage point to admire the flat savannah
expanding to the horizon. There is time to swim and relax before
hiking back to the lodge. (B,L,D)
Day 7
Adventurous flight over the Canaima National Park passing the
Devil's Canyon and the amazing table mountains to view the
magnificent Angel Falls from above. Flight to Margarita and
transfer to hotel. (B)
Day 8
Day at leisure to enjoy the beautiful tropical beaches of
Margarita Island. (B,D)
Day 9
Afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight to Caracas to
connect with overnight flight back home, arriving on Day 10.
