    Tour Itinerary

    Day 1 - Depart UK

    Depart on a Thursday arriving in Buenos Aires the following morning.

    Day 2 - Arrival in Buenos Aires

    On arrival, you will be met by your guide and transfer to your hotel. After checking in, your guide will give you a welcome briefing and introduce you to the city. The rest of the day is at leisure.

    Day 3 - Tour of Buenos Aires

    Today you will take a full day tour of the city including Recoleta with its European architecture, trendy shops and street cafes. We visit the Presidential Palace, Cathedral and go to La Boca, to see the brightly decorated houses in the famous 'Caminito'.

    Day 4 - At Leisure

    Explore the city at leisure or even dance the Tango.

    Day 5 - Iguazu Falls

    Today you will fly up to Puerto Iguazú, visiting the Argentinian side of the awe-inspiring Iguazú Falls, surrounded by tropical rainforest; swifts dive into the falls catching insects, butterflies flit about and toucans fly overhead. Overnight at your hotel

    Day 6 - Rio de Janeiro

    Spend the morning exploring the Brazilian side for a panoramic view and relaxing at the falls and take an afternoon flight to Rio de Janeiro.

    Day 7 - Full Day Tour of Rio

    Full day tour including Rio's famous landmark, the statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado mountain, granting fabulous views of the city and Guanabara Bay. You will pass through the lush forest of Tijuca, with its tropical trees, waterfalls and pleasant shade, before visiting the old centre of Rio.

    Day 8 - At Leisure in Rio

    Spend the day exploring at leisure

    Day 9 - Salvador da Bahia

    Flight to Salvador da Bahía, a city of contrasts, where Catholicism and Candomblé live side by side, the exotic cuisine reflecting the African influences, and the unique rhythms of the North-East. Spend the afternoon visiting the city, including its markets, churches and colourful Pelourinho district.

    Day 10 & 11 - At Leisure in Salvador

    Two days free to explore the city, its art galleries and cobbled streets, or take an optional added excursion.

    Day 12 - Brasilia

    Morning flight to the capital, Brasília, an ultra-modern city, set out in the form of a primed bow and arrow, with the 'super-blocks' spanning out in large arches. We spend the afternoon visiting the main areas of interest including the Palacio de Alvorada and Metropolitan Cathedral.

    Day 13 - Manaus

    You fly today to Manaus, booming in the 19th Century with the arrival of the rubber barons. Your morning tour of Manaus includes a visit to the grandiose Opera House, built during a period of sheer extravagance; hence the materials used are almost entirely European.

    Days 14 to 16 - Embark on your Cruise Across the Amazon

    Fly deeper into the heart of the Amazon, at Tabatinga and short drive to Leticia. Tour this isolated fishing port bustling with trade between Peru, Colombia and Brazil. Board the M/V Amazon Journey Jungle Discovery for 3 nights cruising to Iquitos with all meals and daily excursions included. The ship has a basic local design with three decks, 12 cabins with private facilities, a lounge and dining room, all with air-conditioning and a large observation sun deck. Each day the guides will take you on excursions to observe the exuberance of the rainforest, the wildlife and witness how life is developing in the villages stranded along the river.

    Day 17 - Arrival in Peru

    Disembark, explore Iquitos and transfer to the airport, bound for Lima. On arrival, once you have checked into your hotel, you will have an arrival welcome briefing with your guide.

    Day 18 - Lima

    You will have a morning tour visiting the Larco Herrera museum and the Plaza de Armas with its grand colonial squares, buildings decorated with intricate wooden balconies, sophisticated restaurants and excellent cuisine. The afternoon is at leisure.

    Day 19 - La Paz

    Transfer to the airport and flight to La Paz, the capital of Bolivia, perched high in the Andean mountains. 

    Day 20 - Full Day Tour of La Paz

    La Paz, the world's highest capital, is a bustling city settled in a large basin, where adobe houses cling precariously to the sheer sides. A maze of streets and alleyways make up this city, leading to colonial squares, witches' markets selling assortments of colourful potions, and many little shops full of wonderful weavings and tapestries. You will have a full day tour of the city, also visiting the Valley of the Moon.

    Day 21 -Day at Leisure in La Paz

    You will have the day at leisure to rest, explore, or take an optional extra excursion.

    Day 22 - Lake Titicaca

    Today you will make the journey to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, and on to Puno, staying in a hotel overlooking the lake. En route visit Sun Island and Copacabana, skirting the lake shore, the scenery is stunning with Inca terracing still being worked by the locals, and the snow-capped cordillera stretches out into the background.

    Day 23 - Andean Explorer Train to Puno

    An early morning start to a day on an unforgettable Andean Explorer train journey, part of the Orient Express group. We sit at a table by the window crossing the Andean altiplano, towering mountains and small villages where people await to sell local crafts. On arrival in Cusco, transfer to your hotel in the Urubamba Valley.

    Day 24 - Sacred Valley of the Incas Full Day Tour

    On Sunday you will have a full day excursion visit of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Urubamba valley, affording stunning views of the fertile plains and Inca terracing. Visit the ruins of Ollantaytambo scaling the hill above a charming Inca village, and Pisac ruins, which provide you with some of the most impressive examples of Inca masonry. Continue on to Pisac market, a colourful affair, where local food, alpaca weavings and handicrafts are sold.

    Day 25 - Day at Leisure in the Sacred Valley of the Incas

    Today is free to unwind, do some horse riding or take walks in the countryside

    Day 26 - Machu Picchu by Vistadome Train

    Your day begins with a spectacular train journey following the Urubamba River and culminating at the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Once at the ruins, you will have a guided tour with your private guide and the afternoon free, staying overnight in a nearby hotel.

    Day 27- Return to Cusco by Vistadome Train

    You have the morning to free to explore or return to Machu Picchu, before returning to Cusco on the afternoon train. On arrival in Cusco, transfer to your hotel.

    Day 28 - Cusco City Tour

    Morning tour of Cusco, the fascinating blend of Inca and colonial heritage, the Cathedral and surrounding Inca archaeological sites of Sacsayhuaman and Kenko.

    Day 29 - Day at Leisure in Cusco

    Day at leisure to explore further or sit on the main square as the locals do and watch the world go by

    Day 30 - Departure

    Flight to Lima connecting with your return flight home, arriving the following day, Day 31 (Sunday).
