Day
1 Early afternoon departure from Manaus, transfer by land and
motorised canoe to the Amazon
Lodge, set amongst a myriad of islands and canals where
only the most experienced guides can find their way in the immense uniformity
of primary rainforest. Swim and relax in the tranquillity, broken only
by the sounds of the lodge and the wildlife invisible in the dense vegetation.
Dinner and overnight.

Days
2-5 Experience the forest at close range with our guide and
staff to prepare transport and meals. We canoe to our base camp where
we sleep in hammocks covered by mosquito nets. The timeless Amazon rainforest
is a distant environment with no timetables, no stress and where the
outside world fades into insignificance. - We take several walks in
the dim light under the dense forest canopy, to observe this rich ecosystem
of interdependent trees, lianas, fungi, insects and ants, fighting for
survival and a glimpse of sunlight.
We visit a local family, going about their daily activities, surviving
on small plots of bananas, manioc, sugar cane, and tropical fruits.
We paddle small canoes through the flooded forest, weaving between the
tree trunks, and along narrow creeks.
Day
5-6 Return to the Amazon Lodge for 1 night and back to Manaus
