This unique tour delves into the natural beauty of Rio de Janeiro and its three main ecosystems: Mata Atlantica, Mangroves and the Botanical Gardens.
We start with a visit to the enchanting Tijuca Forest, one of the last easily-accessible areas of 'Mata Atlantica' - the original forest that once covered the whole coastal area of southern Brazil. Tijuca is the largest urban forest in the world and in it you will see stunning waterfalls and dense vegetation and experience such wonderful tranquility that makes it hard to believe that such a vibrant ad cosmopolitan city lies just beyond the forest.
We will then discover the mangroves of Prainha; a beautiful beach not far from the city itself, and learn about its ecosystem. Finally, this tour would not be complete without a visit to the impressive Botanical Gardens, where you will be able to appreciate not only plants native to Rio, but also many more from all over the country. The Botanical Gardens boast over 5,000 species of Brazilian plants, including some magnificent palm trees. Many butterflies and bird species can also be seen here, including toucans, parakeets and hummingbirds.
