Day 1 - Welcome to Shanghai
Day 2 - Highlights of Shanghai
Day 3 - At leisure in Shanghai
Fly to Shanghai and be welcomed upon arrival for transfer to your hotel.
Shanghai is China's most developed mega city, a futuristic metropolis symbolised by its forest of towering skyscrapers. However, if you know which street to turn down, you can still find relics of a bygone era and the occasional oasis of calm.
The Jade Buddha Temple is one such example, rebuilt in 1918 to replace the original one that was destroyed during the revolution and to house two impressive jade Buddhas. The 16th century Yu Yuan is a quintessentially Chinese garden, with many fascinating details throughout the various areas, divided by undulating dragon walls. One of the best spots in Shanghai is the Bund waterfront, lined with historic banks, offices and hotels on one side and on the other, sweeping views across the Huangpu River to the skyscrapers of Pudong - one of the world's most iconic skylines. The most recognisable of these towers is the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, offering fine views from its viewing platforms. In the evening you can enjoy a spectacular acrobatics show.

Day 10 - Transfer to Shanghai
Day 11 - Return flight to UK
Today you will be transferred by road to the lakeside city of Hangzhou, stopping en-route to visit the ancient water town of Wuzhen. Traditional houses line the sleepy canals, crossed by wooden bridges and disturbed only by small hand rowed boats. Wuzhen offers a slow pace of life, in sharp contrast to Shanghai, and boasts over 6,000 years of history. It links with the Grand Canal, one of the world's most historic and important waterways. Stroll around the picturesque canals before taking lunch.
Arrive in Hangzhou in time for dinner and a relaxed evening stroll.
Described by noted explorer Marco Polo as "the City of Heaven - the most beautiful and magnificent in the world", Hangzhou has managed to retain its charm and beauty, in the face of widespread urban development in China. Situated at the end of the Grand Canal, Hangzhou offers a number of interesting sites, but is most famed for the beguiling West Lake, surrounded by mountains on three sides and dotted with tiny islands. The views here are stunning, not least at sunset.
You may choose to stay at the luxury Banyan Tree, located on the edge of wetlands. Enjoy tranquil boat rides, leisurely strolls and close encounters with bird life. Then choose from a range of romantic dining experiences or enjoy a relaxed local barbecue prepared and cooked for you in your own villa.
Day 10 - Transfer to Shanghai for your departure

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
