El Calafate
Morning flight to El Calafate, gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. El Calafate is a characterful town on the southeastern shore of Lago Argentino. Here, many species of birds congregate, including the Magellanic oyster catcher. Transfer to the Sierra Nevada Hotel where we stay for 3 nights. Rest of the day at leisure enjoying the town's excitable atmosphere. There are many cafes, bars and bistros to relax and enjoy.

Perito Moreno Glacier
We set off early on what for many is the highlight of this tour, a full day excursion to the breathtaking Perito Moreno Glacier. This incredible mass has a 4km frontage and a height reaching 70m. Silence reigns, shattered only by the thunderous roar of ice breaking off the glacier and punctuated by the unearthly groans of the creaking glacier. In the company of our expert local guide, we hike along the paths and by glacial streams to the best look out points and take a fascinating boat ride dodging floating icebergs for a different perspective of the glacier and wonderful photo opportunities.

Optional visit to Upsala Glacier
Today you can relax in El Calafate or take an optional excursion to visit the Upsala Glacier, located in the nearby Los Glaciares National Park. Often overshadowed by the Perito Moreno Glacier, the Upsala Glacier is well worth exploring as you travel by boat up to the northwestern end of Lago Argentino through icebergs and floating ice - its an invigorating experience.

Travel to Torres del Paine National Park
We head to the Andes today on a long, scenic drive into Chile to the famous Torres del Paine National Park. We arrive at the first class Rio Serrano Hotel and Spa where we stay for 4 nights including accommodation and breakfast. You have two full days for a wide range of optional trekking and hiking activities exploring the park. In the summer the days are long, as in the UK, so you have a long period of daylight
You can also stay in Refuges for the famous W Trek for 4 or 5 nights with longer treks. The map of the park in our brochure will help you plan. Talk to us to adapt the itinerary and pre-booked.

Lago Grey Hotel

Looking out across the lake, the hotel has been designed to blend in with the surrounding forest of lengua trees.
Its restaurant and bar overlook Glacier Grey and all the rooms are centrally heated. From here you can walk to Peninsula Grey, a craggy outcrop surrounded by icebergs, directly opposite the glacier face or get even closer by taking a boat trip from the lodge to the glacier.
The rates are on an all-inclusive basis, with transfers from Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales, boat trip to Grey Glacier, all meals and drinks from an open bar included.

This morning we transfer to Punta Arenas and take an afternoon flight to Santiago de Chile for your final night in Chile. A beautiful city situated in a plateau with the snowcapped Andes stretching alongside, Santiago de Chile has extensive parks and gardens, a bustling centre with tree-lined avenues and the Cerro San Cristóbal and a hilltop reached by funicular railway, which gives us superb views of the city and surroundings.

Today is free to further explore Santiago de Chile, or take one of many optional excursions available including horse riding in the Andean mountains, a visit to the famous nearby wine regions, walking on the mountains at the Maipo Valley or perhaps enjoy a day trip to the Pacific ocean coastline at Valparaiso and Vina del Mar.
Stay on longer in Chile to visit the Atacama mountains and desert at San Pedro de Atacama.
