Fly to Iquitos and embark the Aria Amazon
Transfer to Lima airport and fly to Iquitos. From here journey together by air-conditioned vehicle through the Peruvian countryside to arrive at our Nauta Lounge in time for lunch, or we will serve a box lunch en route depending on the flight arrival time. In the afternoon, we will set off on your first skiff excursion to visit the birthplace of the Amazon. At 6:00pm, we will board the ARIA AMAZON. Settle into your generously proportioned suite as you begin one of life’s greatest adventures. Following a routine safety drill and introduction to our naturalist guides, we gather for innovative Amazonian cuisine created by our Executive Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, whose restaurant, Malabar, is the one of Lima’s top ranked dining experiences.

Today explore by skiff, we explore the black waters of the Yanallpa River, disembarking to walk deep into the Amazonian rain forest. Later, we board the skiffs again to cruise along the El Dorado River for a dusk excursion in search of exotic nocturnal wildlife and with extraordinary stargazing.

Pacaya, Ucayali and Tapiche Rivers
The rewards of our early start today are plentiful, including a breakfast picnic accompanied by jungle symphony and fishing along the black waters of the Pacaya River. After lunch, we venture out by skiffs on the Ucayali River alongside the banana boats transporting their jungle products to the port of Requena, keeping an eye out for pink river dolphins. Focus our hi-tech telescope on the night sky to identify the planets and constellations.

Choose to go jungle walking, canoeing, kayaking or swimming on the black water Yarapa or Clavero River in the morning. Visit a remote Amazonia village in the afternoon. This evening before dinner, you will gather to introduce you to some of the crew members whom you may not have met, working "behind the scenes" to ensure your countless exceptional experiences aboard the Aria Amazon.

Iquitos Amazon Cruises - Deluxe Amazon Riverboat
Built in 2011 and fully renovated in 2015, the Aria Amazon exceeds the expectations of today’s most sophisticated travellers. Extremely generous dining and lounging areas include an outdoor river facing jacuzzi, bar and dining room. Floor-to-ceiling windows give amazing views over the river from all of the 16 air-conditioned suites, each measuring 250 square feet and with a sitting area and en-suite bathroom. Beds can be made up as twins or double. Four of the cabins have interconnecting doors for families. The ship also has a boutique, observation deck and exercise and massage room. Sacred Valley of the Incas tour
Enjoy our extensive, special full day tour of the Sacred Valley. Begin by visiting the market at Chinchero, where locals come to barter and sell local produce and handicrafts. Also visit a local weaving collective, to learn the traditions of weaving by hand on a back-strap loom. Next you will proceed to Moray, thought to have been an open-air crop laboratory of the Incas, followed by the pre-Inca salt pans of Maras. After lunch, visit the stunning fortress town and ruins of Ollantaytambo. This large archaeological complex is believed to have been a significant agricultural, administrative, social, religious and military centre. The town itself is geometrically perfect; with straight streets, trapezoidal doors, and Inca drainage systems. Finally we travel to the colonial town of Pisac, built on the ruins of an Inca citadel and located at the entrance to the immensely fertile Urubamba "Sacred" Valley. Here you can see the bustling market, and watch the sunset over the mountains from the ruins.

Machu Picchu and return to Cusco
The morning is free to explore. You may wish to climb Huayna Picchu, a steep climb but well worth it for the fantastic views of the valley and a different perspective of Machu Picchu. Alternatively, there is a gentle climb, back along the Inca Trail, to Intipunku: the Gate of the Sun, and the first sight one has of the complex if walking the Inca Trail. In the afternoon, take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes and the train back to Ollantaytambo Station and on to Cusco where you stay for 3-nights on a bed and breakfast basis.
