Arrive in Lima in the morning. You will be met at the airport by our representative who will take you to your hotel for a 2-night stay including breakfast. You will have an introduction to the local area which is an opportunity for our guide to provide advice, explain your programme and answer any questions you may have.

In the afternoon, take a guided tour of Lima, entirely tailored to your family interests. Suggested sights to visit include the Presidential Palace, Plaza San Martín and the Larco Herrera Museum, with a fabulous collection of ancient artefacts from all over Peru.

Amazon Rainforest 

Early morning flight to Puerto Maldonado. From here, it's a 45 minute motorboat transfer to our base in mighty Amazon, the Reserva Amazonica Jungle Lodge - one of the world's top eco-lodges where we stay on a full board basis including all excursions for 3 nights. An eco-friendly luxury lodge on the banks of the Madre de Dios River, Reserva Amazonica has 30 luxury wooden cabanas inspired in the Ese’Eja culture. The area is a wildlife paradise, with 540 bird species identified within the hotel grounds, deep in the rainforest.

During your stay excursions are organised by your naturalist guide, both along the river tributaries and the paths in the forest spotting wildlife in the dense tree canopy. Night excursions are also a possibility.

The wildlife in the area is remarkable, from giant and colourful macaws, to toucans, parrots, tapirs, tamarind monkeys, owls, Southern Amazon Red squirrels, as well as a large variety of monkeys. Reserva Amazonica also holds the world record for ant species in a single place (362 species).

The lodge offers spacious facilities and well-equipped private cabins, guaranteeing guests an authentic, safe and comfortable stay in the rainforest, combining cozy accommodations with warm hospitality, a dedication to conservation and the opportunity to discover magnificent naturally camouflaged wildlife in the jungle.

The lodge boasts 30 private cabanas and 3 suites built with local materials in native style. Service areas are located in a two story wooden pavilion with a cathedral ceiling housing the dining room, bar, the main lounge and a mezzanine over looking the rainforest, where visitors can relax while contemplating the unique scenery. 

Each day and evening there are excursions on offer, both along the river tributaries and along the paths in the forest. Night excursions are also a possibility. As well as viewing the native wildlife, guests also learn about the medicinal properties of the plants endemic to the area and learn more about life in the Amazon. There are also evening presentations.

Included Entrance Fee to the Tambopata Research Center. All meals are included (drinks are extra), as are explorations part of your itinerary (and additional ones are payable locally). Please note that guests can take a maximum of 10kg to the lodge, the rest can be left in the lodge's office in Puerto Maldonado.

Journey on the Vistadome train from Ollantaytambo following the Urubamba River, through beautiful countryside and culminating in the awesome Machu Picchu. You will have a guided tour of the site, afterwards you are free to explore the citadel further. We stay overnight at the nearby Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel including lunch and dinner, an intimate Andean village style property with terraced hills, waterfalls, stone pathways and 83 stunning whitewashed adobe 'casitas' tucked away in the cloud forest. Explore Machu Picchu and return to Cusco

The morning is free to explore. You may wish to climb Huayna Picchu, a steep climb but well worth it for the fantastic views of the valley and a different perspective of Machu Picchu. Alternatively, there is a gentle climb, back along the Inca Trail, to Intipunku the Gate of the Sun, and the first sight one has of the complex if walking the Inca Trail.

In the afternoon take the train to Cusco. Spend the next 2 nights at La Casona, a beautifully 16th century manor house that has been harmoniously restored reflecting cultures and traditions across centuries. Surrounding the main patio, its 11 suites are provided with chimneys, heated floors and extra-large bathtubs. Its halls are decorated with colonial furniture, pre-columbian textiles and original murals. The hotel has a superb restaurant and a spa.

Train Journey to Lake Titicaca

Today is one of the highlights of the tour with a scenic journey by coach (tourist) or luxury train (first & deluxe) along the Andean Mountains to Cusco. Aboard the Titicaca train, sitting by the window, you have breakfast, lunch and high tea served at your table. You can walk around and use the viewing carriage at the back which has a balcony. A wonderful experience from early morning to late afternoon.

Travelling across the Andean altiplano this is an unforgettable experience. You will stop at local villages, meet local people and have the chance to haggle for local textiles and other crafts. The trains stop at remote stations, where you can get off the train and explore. The journey passes dramatic landscapes of snow capped mountains and wide panoramas.

At Puno, we transfer to the all-inclusive Titilaka Lodge for a 3 night stay.

This 18 room luxury refuge lies on the shores of the Lake Titicaca on a secluded private peninsula and includes an excellent dining room, bar, massage room, 3 lounges and a small library.
