Fly to Salvador da Bahia
Take an daytime flight on Air Europa via Madrid or Air Portugal via Lisbon to Salvador da Bahia, arriving the same day in the evening. Our guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your chosen hotel for a 4-night stay including breakfast. Our guide will also take you on a short walk to introduce you to the area surroundings your hotel so that you can get your bearings upon arrival and gain a feel of the city life, the people and the culture. This short introduction (one hour) after checking in at your hotel.

Guided tour of Salvador
Salvador is at the heart of Brazilian identity with roots in Portuguese colonial history, blending with African music and customs. The old centre of Salvador, the Pelourinho, was restored and became a UNESCO World heritage Site with cobbled streets, colonial architecture and churches.
We start our guided tour around the colourful Pelourinho district with its narrow cobbled streets lined with fine colonial houses painted in pastel shades, standing as a reminder of a bygone era when Salvador was at the height of its glory in the 18th Century. We start at Santo Antonio Fortress, Barra's Lighthouse, and pass by residential and commercial points of the city. We visit Dique do Tororo, where beautiful sculptures of the Orixas (African Dieties) can be seen and the most popular areas of the city. The tunnel Americo Simas links the lower and upper cities and the harbour. The tour continues onto the lower city, passing by the areas of Calcada, Largo dos Mares and as far as Bonfim Church (the symbol of the Bahians' faith). We also visit the Mercado Sao Joaquim and Mont-Serrat where you have stunning views of Salvador.
After lunch we visit Porto da Barra (the mark of the foundation of Salvador) and continue onto Setembro Avenue, Ladeira da Barra, Corredor da Vitoria, Campo Grande, Castro Alves Theatre, Forte de Sao Pedro. Access to Municipal Square by Lacerda's Elevator, from where you will have a wonderful view of All Saints' Bay. See the Praca da Se and Terreiro de Jesus squares and their fine colonial architecture. Visit Sao Franciso (the golden baroque church) and the cathedral before returning to the hotel.

Transfer to Praia do Forte
This morning drive to the nearby village of Praia do Forte and check into your chosen hotel or resort for a 3-night stay including breakfast. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax.
Located north of Salvador, this sleepy fishing village is popular for its picturesque church and idyllic beaches. Spend your time exploring the pedestrianised village centre, lined with boutique restaurants, laid-back bars and artisan galleries. Alternatively, find your piece of paradise along miles of white sandy beaches, relax in the shade of swaying coconut palms and unwind in the warm seas. The stunning clarity of the water provides the ideal conditions for snorkelling among the beautiful coral reefs. The temperature is relatively constant throughout the year, although the months between April and June are wetter, with the hottest month being September. Praia do Forte is located around 50 miles north of Salvador de Bahia.
