Home of Andean landscapes and the Lake District, Patagonia Glaciers, Tango dancing, Gaucho life and superb restaurants, cuisine and wines; Argentina is home away from home.
Flanked on one side by the craggy Atlantic coastline and on the other by the towering Andes mountain range, the diversity offered by Argentina is a traveller's dream. The subtropical rainforests, arid deserts and sprawling wetlands of the north stand in stark contrast to Patagonia’s colossal glaciers, ice fields and boat trips to the end of the world. In between lie wide-open pampas, glistening lakes, pristine vineyards and the most stylish capital city in Latin America, enriched with European heritage. It is a country which welcomes hikers, culture lovers, wildlife enthusiasts and intrepid explorers alike.

Best time to Visit Argentina
When is the best time to visit Argentina?
Argentina spans a vast range of latitudes and climates, from subtropical rainforests in the north to subpolar landscapes in Patagonia. This means the country is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on which regions you plan to explore.
October to April - Best for Patagonia and the South
This is the spring and summer season in Patagonia, with daytime temperatures ranging from 15-25°C. It is ideal time for hiking in Los Glacieres National Park, seeing Perito Moreno Glacier, and visiting Ushuaia or Tierra del Fuego. Wildflowers bloom in November, and wildlife, including guanacos, condors, and penguins, is abundant. January and February are warm but busy months, so early spring (October-November) and late summer (March-April) are often the most pleasant.
April to September - Cooler Weather and Quieter Travel
Autumn and winter bring crisp, clear skies to the northwest and central regions. It is a lovely time to explore Salta and Jujuy, with vivid colours in the Quebrada de Humahuaca and fewer crowds. In Buenos Aires, temperatures drop to around 10-18°C, making it comfortable for sightseeing and cultural visits. The wine regions of Mendoza and Cafayate also enjoy mild, dry weather, perfect for vineyard visits and scenic drives.
Year-Round - Buenos Aires and the Pampas
The capital is a year-round destination, with mild winters and warm summers. Spring (September-November) and autumn (March-May) are especially pleasant, when jacaranda trees bloom and outdoor cafes fill the streets. The Pampas region, home to traditional estancias and gaucho culture, can also be visited any time of year.
December to March - Best for Iguazu Falls and the North
These are warmest and wettest months in northern Argentina, with temperatures around 30-35°C and occasional heavy showers. The increased rainfall makes the Iguazu Falls especially powerful and spectacular. For a drier, cooler visit, consider the shoulder months (April-May or September-October).
Argentina Travel FAQS
Do I need a visa to visit Argentina?
British and most EU passport holders do not require a visa for tourist visits of up to 90 days. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond entry.
How long is the flight from the UK to Argentina?
British Airways operates flights from London Heathrow to Buenos Aires with a short stop in Rio de Janeiro. Total journey times is around 16-17 hours. Other options connect via European hubs such as Madrid, Paris, or Amsterdam.
How many day should I spend in Argentina?
Allow 12-14 days to combine Buenos Aires with Iguazu Falls and Patagonia. With more time, add the Lake District, Mendoza's wine country or Salta and the northwest.
Which countries can I combine with Argentina?
Argentina combines easily with Chile (Patagonia and Santiago) and the Lake District (Bariloche with Puerto Varas). It also links well with Brazil (Iguassu Falls) and Uruguay (short ferry from Buenos Aires to Colonia or Montevideo).
Is it safe to travel to Argentina?
Yes, most visits are trouble-free. Normal precautions are advised in cities, especially regarding petty theft. Rural and natural areas areas are considered safe for visitors.
