Andean Culture
One of the joys of visiting Bolivia is the chance to appreciate its colourful traditional dress and understand the rich and varied culture that permeates the entire country.
Bolivia has a strong indigenous culture visible in women wearing bowler hats and numerous skirts, and in colourful markets where people barter potatoes for coca leaves.
Landlocked Bolivia is a country of breathtaking landscapes, with a rich culture underpinned by Inca heritage. On the high altiplano Lake Titicaca shimmers in the midday sun, the Salar de Uyuni stretches out to the horizon and flocks of pink flamingos are reflected in glistening red, green and white lagoons. The colonial city of Sucre and the mining town of Potosí tell both sides of a prosperous yet tumultuous past and local markets burst with wonderful sights, sounds and smells.
Bolivia rewards intrepid travellers with rich culture, Inca heritage, friendly natives, diverse wildlife and some of the most remarkable landscapes in Latin America - where the altitude isn’t the only thing that will take your breath away.
