Mutum Expeditions began been operating river expeditions from their riverside lodge on the Cuiaba River in the northern Pantanal in 2015. They have managed a lodge here since 1998 and over the years have become deeply involved in jaguar observation projects.

Departing from Pousada Mutum and navigating down the Cuiabá River toward Porto Cercado (approximately two hours), guests are captivated by the abundance of bird colonies, including egrets, spoonbills, and storks as well as alligators, giant river otters, capybaras, night monkeys and howler monkeys. Along the way, it is possible to visit a traditional fishing community, offering a glimpse into the warmth and hospitality of the Pantanal people. The complete experience takes you across more than 600 kilometers through the largest floodplain on Earth: the Pantanal of Mato Grosso, Brazil.

Created for small groups and tailored excursions, the boat offers a balance of adventure and comfort, allowing guests to explore at a gentle pace while enjoying attentive hospitality from our dedicated crew.

There are eight comfortable twin cabins, with single beds, air conditioning, satellite tv and private bathroom. 

Public areas include an air-conditioned restaurant serving regional cuisine, bar, a cozy tv lounge, and a spacious upper deck for al fresco dining as well as an ideal vantage point for wildlife watching, relaxation or photography.

From Porto Cercado, guests travel by car to Porto Jofre and board the Mutum Expeditions Boat, following the famous Transpantaneira Highway—a scenic journey of about four hours.

The rates include all meals and guided excursions.
