Santiago city tour
After arriving in the morning, you will be met at the airport and taken to your chosen hotel for a 2 night stay. In the afternoon we explore the city, set in a wide plain with the Andes stretching into the distance. Santiago offers bohemian areas, large craft markets, grand central squares and the Cerro San Cristóbal, a hill which can be reached by funicular railway, for superb panoramic views of the city.

Today is at leisure to explore on your own. We suggest taking a tour of the Pacific Coast at Vina del Mar and Valparaiso, or inland to the mountains in the Canon del Maipo.

Santiago de Chile - Deluxe Boutique
This handsome townhouse, built in 1927, has been renovated and converted into a luxury boutique hotel, with all its original architectural splendour. Filled with European style and sophistication, the 14 rooms were designed to make guests feel at home. The hotel retains the back garden of the original house, complete with a small pool. The hotel has a simple snack bar, but there are many bars and restaurants nearby.

Santiago de Chile - Tourist Boutique
Su Merced is renovated townhouse, small boutique hotel with only 9 rooms. Its location in the Lastarria area opposite the park in the heart of Santiago making it ideal for visiting the artistic, bohemian area of Bellavista, the main square Plaza de Armas, Presidential Palace and downtown. The rooms are comfortable and modern though rather small, and and the hotel has a restaurant and bar on which doubles as the reception.

Our suggested route is to drive to Valparaiso, for a 2 night stay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its historic seaport quarter. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Valparaiso was one of the most important harbours in the South Pacific, promoting the growth in Chile as a major exporting nation. The architecture in the Old Quarter is a classic example of the an old seaport, quite superb.
Valparaiso is very picturesque city, the views enhanced by the surrounding hills and Pacific Ocean. Perhaps explore the Pacific coast line north to Viña del Mar and Reñaca, both famous seaside resorts.

Palacio Astoreca

Located in the historic quarter of Valparaiso, Palacio Astoreca was built in 1923 as a Victorian palace and has been recently restored into a boutique hotel.
Hotel Palacio Astoreca opened in September 2012, after a three-year restoration project. Being a national heritage building its original façade and some of the interior architecture has been preserved, giving it a unique style that combines both old and new.
The hotel has 23 guestrooms with views to the bay or hillside, a piano bar lounge, library, a spa with heated swimming pool and hammam, and a wine cellar stocking some of Chile's finest wines.
The hotel restaurant 'Alegre' offers excellent fusion cuisine made with local produce, led by Spanish chef Sergio Barroso, who previously worked in award winning Spanish restaurant El Bulli.
Its proximity to the famous Yugoslavo pedestrian walk, the Fine Arts Museum at Barburizza Palace, and El Peral funicular - all in the heart of the popular Cerro Alegre hill - is the perfect setting to grasp the natural layout of the city. The hotel has also been Relais & Châteaux member since Nov 2013.

There is much to explore, including walks on snow-capped volcanoes, boat trips on crystal clear lakes and rivers, hot thermal baths, horse riding and trekking. Our self-drive route takes you further south to Puerto Varas located on Lake Llanquihue, near Petrohué Falls and Lago Todos Los Santos where we stay for 2 nights. Puerto Varas and the deep, clear, emerald green waters of the Lake are framed by the snowcapped Osorno Volcano. Explore the area at your own pace, with walks, boat trips and outdoor activities. Well worth a visit is nearby Chiloe, with its unique blend of isolated island culture, small fishing communities and small wooden UNESCO-listed churches, constructed by the Jesuit missionaries arriving in the 16th century.
