After arriving in the morning, you will be met at the airport and taken to your chosen hotel for a 2 night stay. In the afternoon we explore the city, set in a wide plain with the Andes stretching into the distance. Santiago offers bohemian areas, large craft markets, grand central squares and the Cerro San Cristóbal, a hill which can be reached by funicular railway, for superb panoramic views of the city.

Our suggested route is to drive to Valparaiso, for a 2 night stay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its historic seaport quarter. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Valparaiso was one of the most important harbours in the South Pacific, promoting the growth in Chile as a major exporting nation. The architecture in the Old Quarter is a classic example of the an old seaport, quite superb.
Valparaiso is very picturesque city, the views enhanced by the surrounding hills and Pacific Ocean. Perhaps explore the Pacific coast line north to Viña del Mar and Reñaca, both famous seaside resorts.

Puerto Varas and the deep, clear, emerald green waters of the Lake are framed by the snowcapped Osorno Volcano. Explore the area at your own pace, with walks, boat trips and outdoor activities. Well worth a visit is nearby Chiloe, with its unique blend of isolated island culture, small fishing communities and small wooden UNESCO-listed churches, constructed by the Jesuit missionaries arriving in the 16th century.
