Combine splendid lake views with Germanic heritage on this trip to Lake Llanquihue and Frutillar.
Lake Llanquihue is the second largest in Chile, with gorgeous views of several volcanoes, including Osorno, Calbuco, Puntiagudo and Tronador. A visit here is best combined with the charming lakeside village Frutillar. The village is noted for its German heritage, best evidenced in the striking architecture developed by the immigrants who arrived here around 1853. We will take a walk to visit some restored colonial houses and see the strong European influences, learning on the way about the history of this picturesque town and its Germanic roots. The day is completed with a visit to the open-air German museum.
