Set within the Laguna San Rafael National Park, in the Northern Ice Field of Patagonia, is one of South America's most spectacular glaciers. The large Skorpios II cruise vessel provides a panoramic view of San Rafael, before you disembark onto smaller boats to get truly up close and personal with the giant wall of ice and immense electric-blue icebergs.
Cruises to the glacier depart from the town of Puerto Montt and also take in the charming fishing village Puerto Aguirre, the beautiful Quitralco Fjord, surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation and with its own natural thermal hot springs, as well as the colourful island of Chiloé, with its 16 UNESCO world heritage wooden churches. An alternative itinerary takes travellers to the impressive El Brujo and Amalia glaciers, as well as five more in the Montanas Fjord.
