Kaweskar Route 2023 - 3 nights

Tuesday to Friday & Friday to Monday

Day 1 - Embark in Puerto Natales and set sail

Embark the Skorpios III in the afternoon in Puerto Natales. Set sail early evening through Angostura Kirke, Morla, Vicuña, Unión, Collingwood and the Sarmiento channels.

Day 2 - Exploring magnificent Glaciers

Arrive at Amalia Glacier at breakfast time. The vessel approaches close to the glacier offering stunning  panoramic views from the ship. We leave the ship and take a hike across a beach exploring the flora and rocks and arriving at a viewpoint to observe this beautiful glacier. We then sail to the El Brujo Glacier arriving in the afternoon. Weather and ice permitting, you can disembark and contemplate this glacier from a nearby rock.

Continue to the amazing Calvo Fjord where we take an excursion on the “Capitán Constantino” icebreaker, to navigate between the ice. Here, we visit the Fernando, Capitán Constantino and Alipio glaciers, among others - quite spectacular. In the evening, we sail towards Montañas Fjord.

Day 3 - Glaciers and nature walks

This morning we visit Montañas Fjord, from where you can observe four glaciers that slide down the Sarmiento Mountains to the sea, two of them are on our route. First stop is Alsina Glacier, which we explore by boat enjoying its beauty and stunning mountain scenery. Returning to Skorpios III, we sail through Montañas Fjord toward Bernal Glacier. Here, we disembark and take a walking tour of a small native forest and pass through a stream which crosses a glacier water lagoon. Continue our hike over front and side moraines. When we arrive at the glacier, you can feel and touch the ice - and appreciate the iceberg melting. 

After lunch, Skorpios III continues sails through Montañas Fjord, from where we can see Herman and Zamudio glaciers from the ship. Late afternoon arrival at White Angostura where we transfer to excursion boats and sail among island and rocks, enjoying the native fauna and flora. We return to the ship for the Captain’s dinner and farewell Party as the ship cruises through Almirante Montt gulf.

Day 4 - Disembark in Puerto Natales

DAY 1 

12:00. Set sail from Puerto Montt, through Tenglo Channel, Llanquihue Archipelago, passing Calbuco village and crossing of Ancud Gulf. 

17:00 Arrive in the Chiloé Archipelago and past Mechuque, Chauques, Caguache, Tranqui islands. Crossing of Corcovado Gulf.

DAY 2

07:00. Sail through Moraleda Channel and arrive at Puerto Aguirre Village in the Guaitecas Archipelago, where we visit this picturesque fishermen village. 10:30 Sail through Ferronave, Pilcomayo, Paso Casma and Canal Costa channels, arriving at Quitralco Fjord at 15:00. Disembarkation to enjoy this natural sanctuary. Enjoy hotspring thermal baths, hikes and boat trips. 2030. Dinner in Skorpios “fogón”, with a lamb barbecue Patagonia style.

DAY 3

Today we navigate Pulluche Channel, in Ana Pink Bay. At dawn, we cross Penas Gulf and enjoy an evening sailing through Messier Channel.

DAY 4

09:00hrs. Enter the Fjord and Glacier Bernardo, where we go ashore and hopefully sighting Huemules. 11:00 we sail to Puerto Edén, sailing through Messier Channel, crossing Angostura Inglesa, and arriving at Puerto Edén at 17:00. We disembark at this fishermen village, a craddle of the Kaweskar Alacalufe’s ethnic group. We walks through its streets made of wooden footbridges and its patagonic surroundings. 19:00. Set sail toward Pío XI Glacier, navigating through Paso del Indio and Grappler Channel. Anchor and overnight in Pío XI bay. 

DAY 5

08:00. Visit Pío XI Glacier, the biggest glacier of the Southern Hemisphere. 11:00. Sail south through Eyre Fjord, Wide Channel, Concepción Channel, Tres Cerros Channel and Pitt Channel, anchoring in Caleta Villarica at midnight.

DAY 6

08:00. We sail in front of Amalia Glacier, disembarkation in this peninsula to watch the rocks that have been polished by the glacier, its flora and its surroundings. 11:00. Sail south through Asia Fjord. 14:30. Arrive at El Brujo Glacier, where we explore on exploration boats, toward magma rocks to admire this ice colossus and its tall towers of ice. 15:30 Sail to de las Montañas Fjord, through Sarmiento and Union channels. 

DAY 7

08:00 Sail through de las Montañas Fjord arriving at the Bernal Glacier, where we disembark and explore. 12:00 Back on board, we sail south to  Channel Morla Vicuña, crossing Angostura Kirke, Valdés Channel, and  arriving at Guadramiro Bay at 17:00. Here, we disembark in boats to see an elephant's seals colony. In the evening, we sail to Puerto Natales, 

DAY 8

09:00 Disembark after breakfast in Puerto Natales.

Kaweskar itinerary 23/24 - 4 nights

Day 1 - Embark in Puerto Natales and set sail

Embark Skorpios III and set sail after lunch through the Almirante Montt Gulf arriving at Caleta Juarez in Guardramiro Fjord. Here we travel on small boats to see up close a colony of elephant seals. Evening sailing crossing Kirke narrows, Morla Vicuna, Union, Collingwood, and Sarmiento channels.

Day 2 - Exploring magnificent Glaciers

This morning sail north through Pitt Channel to Guillard Fjord and sail close to Guillard Glacier. Here we explore the glacier on land. Enjoy an afternoon tour through the Glacier's channels. In late afternoon, drive at Sarratea Bay where we take a small boat to explore. 

Day 3 - Glaciers and nature walks

This morning we arrive at Amalia Glacier. The ship will get as close as possible to the glacier for amazing views. We then go ashore and explore the nearby beach and hike through sand, vegetation, and rocks, reaching a viewpoint from where you can observe this beautiful glacier. Back on board we continue to the El Brujo Glacier. If weather and ice conditions allow, you can see the glacier from a nearby rock. 

We then sail to spectacular Calvo fjord and enjoy an excursion in a boat navigating amongst the ice, visiting Fernando, Capitán Constantino, and Alipio glaciers.

Day 4 - Fjord of the Mountains

Today we visit the Fjord of the Mountains, where four glaciers descend from the Sarmiento Mountain Range to the sea. We then visit Alsina Glacier, where we explore by boat visiting this small bay and its eye-catching glacier. Continue to Bernal Glacier where we hike in a small native forest and across a glacial water lagoon to the front of the Glacier. Here, we will have the opportunity to touch some ice and watch the receding phase of a glacier that no longer reaches the sea. In the evening, as we navigate through the Almirante Montt Gulf, enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 5 - Disembark in Puerto Natales

Disembark in Puerto Natales after breakfast.
