Located in the centre of Hong Kong Island is the iconic Happy Valley Racecourse, encircled by towering skyscrapers. Introduced to Hong Kong by the British colonisers of the mid-nineteenth century, transforming an area of swampland into the city's first track. It is a sport and a night out which remains as popular as ever.

Each Wednesday this course comes alive with all the thrill of the races, as locals and visitors alike gather to wager their money beneath the city lights. The season typically runs from September until July and entrance costs around £1 for standard entrance, or you can opt to reserve a table with a buffet-style dinner service.

Alternatively, race meetings are held at Sha Tin Racecourse besides the Shing Mun River on Sundays.
