Laff Charity, Cusco

Latin American Foundation for the Future (LAFF) is a UK registered charity founded by Sarah Oakes. They work with local organisations in Peru that support vulnerable children in the region of Cuzco. Due to poverty, family violence, homelessness and teenage pregnancy amongst other factors, many children in Peru are lacking opportunities to access basic rights such as education and equal participation in society. LAFF choses a collaborative approach, partnering with local organisations to reach out to these children and young people, helping them to build a brighter future for themselves.

LAFF’s Programme Manager or volunteer meets you at Aulita, Cusco for coffee. Aulita is a café, boutique and cultural centre offering a collection of handmade, fair trade products from across the country.

- Introduction presentation to LAFF’s work: We share some facts about the state of education in Peru and the importance of the non-profit sector in closing the inequality gap.

- Continue to Casa Mantay site in the outskirts of Cusco city for a special visit. Take a brief tour of the public areas of the house while we explain Mantay’s mission and work.

- Enjoy a presentation on Mantay’s social enterprises: Importance of women empowerment and financial sustainability.

- Visit the leather workshop and shop.

How to book:

Once you have made a booking to Cusco with us, you can book the above through 1/2 day programme through our UK office. The cost is $50 per person, payable locally, plus your taxi fares from/to your hotel.
