Sacha Lodge is set on a private reserve of 1300 hectares close to the Napo River. Guest fly from Quito to Coca airport and onward to the lodge by motorised canoe. You then walk along a raised boardwalk through dense flooded palm forest to Pilchicocha Lake, a blackwater paradise where dugout canoes await to carry you to the Lodge.
All rooms are in authentic bungalows with high thatched roofs and private shaded terraces. Each of the 26 air-conditioned rooms has a private bathroom, free wi-fi, ceiling fans, hammock and safe. All rooms are screened against insects enabling a peaceful night's sleep.
Public areas include a swimming pool in the river, gift shop, tea and coffee station, two delightful restaurant - the Balsa Restaurant looks out to the lake, and a bar. The lodge also has it's own butterfly house and striking observation tower enabling 360 degree views of the rainforest canopy.
Guided excursions include walks in the rainforest, paddle dugout canoes, visit to a local community, visit to a parrot clay lick, piranha fishing, night walks and canoe trips. From the tower's ample platform it is possible to observe toucans, parrots, and other colourful bird species. Rubber boots and ponchos are included for the excursions.
The rates include all meals and excursions.
