Day 1

Fly to Guatemala

Departure flight Thursday to Guatemala City arriving in the same evening, where you will be met by our guide and taken to your chosen hotel in Antigua for a 1 night stay. This is also the opportunity for our guide to provide you advice, explain your programme and answer any questions you may have.


Day 2

Tour of Antigua and travel to Lake Atitlan

Next morning we tour Antigua, exploring its cobbled streets and admiring the colonial buildings with interior courtyards and gardens. In the afternoon, drive to Panajachel for a 1 night stay, on the shores of magical Lake Atitlan. 

Casa Encantada

Antigua - First Hotel

Casa Encantada is one of the most intimate and relaxing boutique hotels in Antigua. Once you enter the hotel from the cobbled street enjoy the tranquility, calm and warmth of a private residence. Rustic but elegant architecture and charming decoration create a deep sense of tranquility and peace. 

The cozy interior patio and garden has a small pool and sun loungers. There is also an excellent restaurant and rooftop bar.

Chichicastenango

Enjoy a morning boat trip to the charming village of Santiago de Atitlan, nestled at the foot of three towering volcanoes, and visit the local market. We then drive to Chichicastenango, a picturesque town surrounded by high mountains. Overnight in an attractive colonial hotel.


Day 4

Chichicastenango Sunday market

The following day we go to the famous bustling Sunday market, where beautifully dressed locals come from far and wide to sell their colourful wares. It is a fascinating experience and a real highlight of this tour. Return to Antigua in the late afternoon for 2 nights at your chosen hotel.

Day at leisure in Antigua

Antigua is a wonderful city to explore at your leisure. Guatemala's cultural centre, replete with museums and churches and a charming atmosphere. Several optional excursions are available locally, or perhaps listen to the traditional Indian music in the bars and cafés and browse the many street markets.

Palacio De Dona Leonor

The hotel Palacio de Doña Leonor is located in an old colonial house in the heart of this magical city, just a few meters away from the cathedral and Antigua's Central Park. It was completely refurbished in 2006 but keeping the same charming colonial architectural style. Each of the 12 rooms are named after a historical figure from Antigua's past and is decorated in a different way still in keeping with the colonial theme of the hotel. There is a restaurant, breakfast room, outdoor lounge and breakfast areas in the central courtyard. Plenty of shops and restaurants are just a few steps away. Visit the Mayan ruins of Quiriguá and Copán in the jungle

We cross the border to neighbouring Honduras today to visit to the remarkable Mayan site of Quiriguá and on to the impressive ruins of Copán. Both sites are partly reclaimed from the jungle undergrowth, with sections still half-entangled in roots. We see their intricately carved recordings of a bygone age, and take a nature trail to the minor ball court, in this mysterious jungle setting. Overnight at our hotel in the village of Copán.

Guatemala City has grown around one of Central America's most notable archaeological sites, Kaminaljuyu. It is now located in a park inside the city which we visit on our way to your chosen hotel where we stay one night, before our early flight the next day.

Day 8

El Ceibal

Early morning Flight to Flores and visit El Ceibal. Here you will find an array of fine, well-preserved stone carvings, set amidst thick jungle. Continue to our jungle lodge at Petexbatun Lagoon for a 1 night stay on a half board basis.


Day 9

Archeological site of Aguateca

The following morning takes us to the Aguateca archaeological site, where the jungle still retains its grasp on the partially excavated ruins creating an atmosphere charged with mystery and mysticism. Transfer to our jungle lodge at Tikal for 2 nights on a half board basis.


Day 10

Explore the wildlife around Tikal

A full day excursion around the vast, magical Mayan site of Tikal. Guided along trails, we come across mighty temples which rise up above cloud-covered tropical forest, in an area of abundant wildlife. A wonderful day of exploration awaits.

Jungle Lodge

The family run Jungle lodge is ideally situated within the Tikal National Park, offering the closest accommodation to the temples & pyramids. The lodge has a rich history in providing accommodation for archeologists and explorers over many years.

The public areas include a swimming pool, bar, restaurant, games room and bonfires at night.

The spacious rooms have private bathrooms with hot water (limited) electricity. High ceilings keep the rooms cool and each bungalow has its own small porch.

The main activity is guided tours of nearby Tikal and other impressive Mayan sites. 

The rates are on a full board basis and include one guided shared excursion of Tikal.
