The centrally located Taj Connemara is one of the most iconic buildings in Chennai, built in 1799 and first becoming a hotel in 1854. It became the Connemara in 1890, the name being the then Madras Governor. The modern day hotel has delightful colonial charm and grand architecture including marble floors.
