Fly to Kalimantan and embark your house boat

Transfer to the airport and fly to Upon Pangkalanbun in Central Kalimantan. On arrival, our guide will meet and transfer you to your local Klotok boat for a scenic journey 3-night along the Kumai and Sekonyer Rivers on a full board basis. Cruise on the wide Kumai River and enter the smaller Sekonyer river that marks the border of the Tanjung Puting National Park. The lush vegetation along the riverbank first consists of Nipa palm (a palm tree only found near estuaries as they grow in salty water), slowly replaced by Pandans trees. Along the way observe many birds and wildlife including macaque, proboscis monkeys and orangutans.

Camp Leakey

After breakfast, cruise up the river observing the wildlife. We then visit the FNPF Camp for planting trees, here you will plant the tree to contribute to Carbon Offset program. Here you should contribute to IDR. 50.000 / Tree for maintaining your own trees. Your name will be mentioned on your tree by the ranger. We continue sailing to Camp Leakey where we trek in the forest to see orangutans feeding and learn about the important work of this famous wildlife sanctuary.

Pondok Tanggui and Nipa Palm

After breakfast, we sail downsteam to Pondok Tanggui, another important orangutan rehabilitation centre, in time for the orangutan feeding. We continue to Tanjung Harapan village where we can meet local villagers and then sail to the Nipa Palm area where thousands of fireflies can be observed. You can also opt to join a trek into the forest for around an hour to see the nocturnal animals like Tarsiers and tarantulas (supplement applies).

Komodo Island cruise to Kalong Island

After breakfast, embark the Giona Boat for a 2-night cruise to the Komodo Islands on a full board basis. Set sail to Kelor Island and take a short hike to a point where there is a panoramic view of Flores, Rinca Island and many other small islands. Continue to the uninhabited Manjarite Island where we stop for snorkelling and relaxation. Our final stop today is Kalong Island, famous for its mangrove forest and large population of bats - an impressive sight at sunset.

Komodo Island and dragons

Up early to explore a stunning sunrise at Padar Island. We then continue to the highlight on this trip, Komodo Island, home to the largest community of komodo dragons and many other animals such as wild horses, buffaloes and pigs. Set off for a 1½ hour trek under the guidance of a local park ranger who will explain all about the dragon’s and life on the islands. Pass by waterholes where animals drink and dragons watch their prey. Quite unfortgettable! We also enjoy a swim and snorkel stop at Pink Beach, a pristine cove with an abundance of coral and sea life including manta rays.

This morning we sail to Takka Makassar, a tiny, beautiful desert island with a white sandy beach where you can enjoy snorkelling and admire the mesmerising underwater life of Labuan Bajo. Guided tour of Ubud

Enjoy a guided tour of Ubud, Bali's cultural heart, visiting the Sacred Monkey Forest, featuring three ancient Hindu temples, jungle-covered pathways lined with mysterious statues and of course several groups of cheeky, indigenous macaques. Continue to Pura Taman Saraswati, a temple dedicated to the Hindu deity of learning, literature and art, featuring a beautiful lotus pond at its front. We also visit Ubud Palace, the official residence of the royal family of Ubud, a local market and the Agung Rai Museum of Art. Lunch is included today.

Mount Batur sunrise trek

We leave the hotel in the middle of the night for an unforgettable Mount Batur sunrise walk passing through volcanic ash, sand and small rocks, remnants from Mount Batur’s previous eruptions. We arrive at the crater rim and await the sunrise. Located at 1,717 meters above sea level, this vantage point offers the island’s best views. Relax and enjoy the experience as the first light of day illuminates Bali and neighbouring Mount Abang and Mount Agung. A incredible experience! On our way down, we visit a hot spring where we can soothe tired muscles in the natural therapeutic waters and then enjoy a local lunch before returning to the hotel.

Explore the Tomohon area

Today we explore the culturally-rich area of Tomohon visiting Woloan, where you will see typical wooden Sulawesian-style houses, Pinaras Waterfall and turquoise Linow Lake. After an included lunch, continue to the Ekayana Pagoda towering over Tomohon town. At the turtle lake try hitting the rotating bell with a coin, a custom that is supposed to bring you wealth, luck, fame, longevity and happiness. Why not!

Tangkoko National Park and the Spectral Tarsier

Today we drive and walk to the summit of Mount Mahawu with an amazing view of the crater lake as well as of the surrounding area including the national park Bunaken. We then continue to the airport and take a short domestic flight to the shores of Tondano Lake, the largest lake of North Sulawesi.  Tondao Lake is nestled among the rolling hills of the Minahasa Highlands and there’s always a fresh breeze across its large silverish surface. The shores are lined with aqua culture farms and restaurants, at one of which you’ll be served lunch. After lunch, we check into your chosen lodge for a 2-night stay on a full board basis. After a rest, enjoy an evening walk in the forest to observe the highlight of the national park, the nocturnal primate the Tarsius spectrum, the smallest primates on earth endemic from North Sulawesi and Phillipines. The size of a small fist, Tarsius look particularly cute because of their big saucer eyes.

Today enjoy a day exploring Tangkoko National Park, observing a wide variety of tropical birds. More than 150 of Sulawesi’s 379 bird species have been recorded in Tangkoko and you should be able to spot the hornbills, kingfishers, six endemic parrots and the biggest group of black macaques. A memorable way to spend your last day in Indonesia.
