Andean Scenery & Lakes, the Atacama Desert, Patagonia Glaciers and a 4 night Cruise at the "End of the World"

Enjoy a half day city tour visiting the brightly coloured houses of La Boca, the city centre, the Cathedral and observing the Presidential Palace and its famous balcony where Eva Peron regularly appeared for in the 1950's.

The area is also famous for its diverse architecture and glorious buildings built at the turn of the century. As many have a French style, Buenos Aires is known as “the Paris of Latin America”.

On this half day excursion you will learn about colonial culture and history with your private guide, visiting the central square, the impressive Cathedral, San Francisco church and the Convent of San Bernardo.

Continue to MAAM, the Museum of High Altitude Archaeology and the green mountains and crystal streams at San Lorenzo, an exclusive area with ancient woods and large mansions with some interesting craft shops.

A full days exploration into the surrounding high altitude countryside surrounding Salta, visiting traditional Purmamarca Village with its Seven Coloured Hill, church and craft market on the square.

Continue to Tilcara and visit Pucará's Archaeological Museum, Huacalera and cross the Tropic of Capricorn to view the colours of La Pollera del Coya Hill. Arrive at Humahuaca at noon. The town has an important church and the Independence Monument and where we stop for lunch (not included).

Continue to San Salvador de Jujuy visiting Flag Hall and the cathedral, with its pulpit carved in wood and gold.

Our full day tour today begins with a visit in the Lerma Valley and Quebrada de los Laureles (The Laurel"s Gorge) and Quebrada de Escoipe (Escoipe Gorge).

We arrive to Maray, entering Cuesta del Obispo (The Bishop"s Cliff), a very scenic road where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Enchanted Valley and small houses with maize and fruit trees. 

At Piedra del Molino (The Mill`s Stone) we reach 3.384 metres above the sea level, the highest point in our trip. Soon Los Cardones National Park is crossed by the straight line of Tin-Tin (ancient Inca"s road). On arrival to Cachi, enjoy a panoramic view of the Nevado de Cachi and Payogasta and visit the Archaeological Museum.

We head towards the salt mountain range to the Moon Valley. Upon entering, the first stop is at the Great Dune, where we walk along a sandy path until we reach the viewpoint with a panoramic view. Then, the second stop is at the Tres Marías viewpoint, a geological formation sculpted by erosive agents that look like statues of salt.

On the way back, we take a short walk next to the Amphitheater, a geological formation with sedimentary folds of clay, salt and plaster. Finally, We visit the Mirador de Cari, located at 2,550 meters above sea level. Known as the "Piedra del Coyote", this viewpoint is one of the most famous postcards of San Pedro de Atacama, from where you can contemplate a majestic view of the Andes Mountains. 

Enjoy a full day tour today visiting the Chaxa Lagoon, an oasis in the middle of a salt desert home to many species of flamingos and other altiplanic birds.

We continue to Piedras Rojas (altitude 3,800 metres) and walk to observe the impressive copper coloured rocks, as well as the surrounding lagoons and salt flats. We also visit the charming town of Socaire, famous for its crop soil, and the town of Toconao, built with volcanic rock and recognised for the spectacular views it offers of the Salar de Atacama. 

Today we travel across the Andes from Puerto Varas to San Carlos de Bariloche by coach and boat including crossing three lakes. The journey is spectacular, with views of the mountains and volcanoes. After an invigorating day's travel, arrive in Bariloche where we stay for 3-nights at your chosen hotel including breakfast. 

Enjoy a full days guided tour of this most scenic region of Argentina, including visiting Anfiteatro, a natural amphitheatre-shaped geological formation on the Limay river and Valle Encantado where forests and bushy vegetation dominate amidst stunning landscapes.

We continue to Nahuel Huapi National Park to the source of the Traful river (a lake). Here we trek, spot birds and take a trip on the lake. We also visit the Quetrihue Peninsula before returning to your hotel. 

Today enjoy a boat excursion on Nahuel Huapi Lake to Victoria Island and Arrayanes Forest. With stunning views of Anchorena Bay, we walk to the panoramic Monte Bella Vista viewing point. We then observe some aborigine paintings and visit Playa del Toro.

After lunch, we explore Arrayanes Forest observing magnificent arrayan-myrtle trees with their cinnamon coloured bark considered to be unique in the world for its characteristics.  

Transfer to Bariloche Airport and fly to El Calafate. On arrival, transfer to your chosen hotel for a 2-night stay including breakfast. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Today enjoy a full day excursion to Los Glaciares National Park to see the incredible Perito Moreno Glacier. Entering the park, experience the  unique infinite peace, unpolluted air, and the silence of the immensity only interrupted by the movement of the glacier when its immense blocks of ice fall in Canal de los Témpanos in an astounding clamour. You also have the option of taking a boat ride to get a closer look at the glacier.

We leave Argentina again and travel across the Andes by road through beautiful Southern Patagonia back to Chile arriving late afternoon at Torres del Paine National Park, where we stay at your chosen hotel for a 3-night stay including breakfast. 

After a welcome cocktail reception offered by the Captain and his crew the ship will depart for "the uttermost part of the earth". Our trip takes us through the Strait of Magellan and Beagle Channel to explore one of the most breathtaking wilderness regions in the world: Southern Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. We have just embarked on a Great Adventure!

The cruise includes all meals, all drinks (at selected times), all excursions and on board lectures and activities.

This morning we sail through Almirantazgo Sound to Marinelli Glacier in Ainsworth Bay, where we go ashore and enjoy a walk discovering a beaver dam in the midst of a Magellanic forest.

Later we visit Tucker Islet, where we view colonies of Magellanic Penguins and Cormorants from zodiac boats. The islet's penguins migrate in April; as a replacement we visit Brookes Bay, for a short walk to see a glacier. 

Today we navigate through the main part of Beagle Channel to reach Pia Bay, where we disembark near Pia Glacier.

We take a short hike to a lookout point with a spectacular view of the entire glacier tongue, stretching from high in the mountains all the way to the sea.

After this unforgettable experience, we sail again along the northwest arm of Beagle Channel through majestic "Glacier Alley" observing from the ship Spain, Romanche, Germany, Italy, France and Holland glaciers. 

Our final day is for many the highlight, as weather depending, we sail through Beagle and Murray channels and disembark in Cape Horn National Park.

Cape Horn, on Hornos Island, is a sheer, 425-metre (1,394-foot) high rocky promontory at the point where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans merge.

This mythical place is known as the "End of the Earth"; a visit here is very special. The park was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in June 2005.

In the afternoon, we go ashore in historic Wulaia Bay, once the site of one of the region's largest aboriginal settlements.

This area is also renowned for the mesmerising beauty of its vegetation and geography. We walk through a magellanic forest of lengas, coigües, canelos, ferns and other native vegetation to reach a lookout point.
