This enticingly-named road journey is a wonderful way of appreciating the magnificent scenery of the Argentine Lake District. We drive north, first to Villa La Angostura and then onto the Seven Lakes Road, coming first to Espejo, whose name in Spanish "mirror", gives a clue to its clear waters. We continue on to Correntoso, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner and Machónico, ending at Lake Lacar, close to the small city of San Martín de los Andres. After time spent on the Quila Quina and Catrite beaches and at the ski resort at Mount Chapelco, we head back via Lake Meliquina and the Cordoba pass. We can also visit some caves with aborigine paintings, testimony to an ancient culture that dates back nearly 10,000 years and Valle Encantado (Enchanted Valley).
