Once a queit fishing village, Copacabana is now a lively town on the Bolivian shore of Lake Titicaca. While it's more developed than in years past, it retains an authentic charm and distinct atmosphere compared to its Peruvian counterpart across the lake.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana

At the heart of the town stands the impresive 16th-century Basilica, home to a revered shrine of the Patron Saint of Bolivia. This religious site draws pilgrims the year, especially during local festivals and holy days.

Fiesta de la Virgen de la Candelaria

Held each February, this vibrant festival brings the town to life with traditional dancing, feasting, and parades. Celebrations include colourful costumes and a Spanish-style running of the bulls, as Bolivians from acorss the country gather for this important pilgrimage.

Cerro Calvario Viewpoint

For panoramic views over Copacaban and Lake Titicaca, climb the nearby Cerro Calvario. The trail leads to a tranquil - and often spiritual - lookout, especially popular at sunset. It offers one of the most scenic vantage points in the region.
