Takya de Sal

The Takya de Sal Hotel is located on the North-East bank of the Salar, in the town of Tahua and on the slopes of Tunupa Hill. The hotel is built entirely of salt, which is an attraction in itself and offers incredible views of the salt flat.

The comfortable rooms have heating and a private bathroom. There are single rooms, doubles and family rooms available. 

Public areas include a restaurant and cafeteria with a large terrace overlooking the salt flat. The restaurant offers breakfast (included), lunch, dinner, box lunch, lunch in route, special menu upon request. The cafeteria has a special à la carte menu. There is also a cosy living room made entirely of salt.

There is much to enjoy in this area, including: Llama Herding with members of the local community, a unique experience; Cajanis - a cultural celebration dedicated to the goddess of Tunupa Goddess who lives in the volcano. It is a musical demonstration with dance, mysticism and joy; Apthapi - the ritual of sharing food among the members of a community is known by the Aymaras as apthapi and is a heritage of its people. The word comes from the word apthapiña, which means "to gather from the harvest.”; and a trek to the Tunupa Volcano Viewpoint where you enjoy a walk with a local guide, learn about the legends that surround this mythical volcano and the panoramic views that will take your breath away.
