The Reflective Wonder of Uyuni
From December to March, the rainy season transform Bolivia's Salar de Uyuni into a giant natural mirror. A thin layer of water settles over the salt crust, creating a sureal reflective surface that mirrors the sky with breathtaking clarity - dreamlike spectacle for photographer and travellers alike.
When to Visit for the Mirror Effect
The best chance to see this phenomenon is towards the end of the wet season, usually February to early March, when the water begins to recede but the mirror effect remains. Weather permitting, this is when tours aim to catch the perfect light for dramatic photos.
Travel Considerations
During this period, parts of the flats may become inaccessible or difficult to drive through. Vehicles can't travel as far into the Salar as they can in the dry season, and some tours may be altered or cancelled if conditions are unsafe. Be flexible and check with your guide in advance.
