Built for the 1950 Word Cup, it originally seated 200.000 people. but after major restoration works it now holds 78,000 . Major games include the local derby between Flamengo and Fluminense, dubbed Flu-Fla, as well as the regular league games between the four major Rio clubs, including Botafogo and Vasco de Gama.
