The beaches of the British Virgin Islands have a colourful barrier reef where the waves break creating a natural pool with calm seas and white sandy beaches, ideal with swimming and snorkelling.

The Islands are a British Overseas Territory consisting of Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke. The capital is Road Town on Tortola. The islands were named by Christopher Columbus in 1493 after the legend of Saint Ursula and 11,000 virgins. The population is estimated at about 35,000 people, who largely work in either tourism or the significant financial services sector that has successfully grown due to the advantageous tax free environment for companies registered there.

Apart from a guided tour of the islands discovering the history and legends, the main attractions are the stunning beaches, coral reefs, luxury resorts and chance to enjoy a wide range of watersports and boat trips.

Although British, the local currency is USD.
