Fly to Cat Island in the Bahamas
Depart the UK on a daytime flight to Miami to connect with a flight to Nassau. On arrival, transfer to a local flight to Cat Island, where our guide will meet and transfer you to the Fernandez Bay Village for a 5-night stay on a bed and breakfast basis.
Located on Cat Island, one of the southern Bahamas Out Islands, Fernandez Bay Village offers a friendly, laid back vacation for couples and families alike. There are 5 villas or cottages to choose from, all facing the sea. The resort has many activities available including water sports, bikes, snorkelling, island tours, fishing and a spa. There is a friendly bar in the clubhouse and meals are taken inside or al fresco on the terrace overlooking the sea. You can also cook your own meals in the cottages or villas. Fernandez Bay Village is a wonderful, remote retreat ideal for couples and family groups.

Perhaps venture away from the beach today on a guided tour Cat Island. From Columbus’s first landing to the loyalist era, between buccaneers and rum runners, the Island invites you explore its rich past. It’s been said that Cat Island is named after Arthur Catt, a pirate in the late 1700’s who buried his treasure on the island!
To the north some points of interest include the Great Crown Cave at Dumfries, a safe haven in a hurricane, and the beautiful Anglican church, built with hand laid stone walls, in Arthurs Town, also the boyhood home of Sir Sidney Poitier. Set at the highest point in the Bahamas on Mt. Alvernia, is a tiny monastery and chapel built by architect/priest Father Jerome in the late 1940’s. This short but steep climb rewards you with a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and turquoise waters of Exuma sound on the other.
Continue to New Bight, where we visit the remains of Henry Hawkins Armbrister’s plantation house (at the base of Mt. Alvernia and the Hermitage). Finally, we visit Port Howe, to explore the plantation ruins of Colonel Andrew Deveaux, the British commander-in-chief during the late 1700’s.

Fernandez Bay Village cottages and villas are cosy, comfortable, quiet, hiding between the trees and stepping straight out onto the beach.
There is a choice of 10 bungalows and villas: the cozy cottages are ideal for couples that plan to dine at the Clubhouse; Villas offer more space, multiple bedrooms for an entire family or a group of friends, as well as a kitchen stocked with pots, pans and utensils so you can prepare your own meals if you wish.
The individual rooms spread along the beach, between the trees on the sheltered west side of Cat Island, and are only a few steps from the clear, translucent waters of the sea.
Meals are served in the a relaxed communal dining room and bar where you can sit at the same table as other guests. The resort offers sea kayaks, snorkelling, boat rides, paddleboarding and bicycles for guests use.
It is perfect to switch off in timeless surroundings: there is nothing to do; read a book, walk along the coast, swim and chat with other guests in the evening perhaps.
