A port city in northern Chile, famed for its surfing beaches and gateway to the beautiful Lauca National Park

Arica has a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere commonly found in areas popular with surfers. The warm year round climate means it is a good place to stay for a few days at any time of the year. The city has an fine cathedral and excellent museum (designed by the designer of the Eiffel Tower) - both well worth visiting.

And close by in the Andes is of course is Lauca National Park, famous for its plethora of wildlife, birds, fauna and flora. See groups of flamingoes, llamas and alpacas. Hike around Cotacotani Lake, visit one of the many hot springs, admire Pomerape volcano over 20,000 feet high and explore Chungará Lake and the wetlands of the Cotacotani Lagoon.
