Discover the volcano, forests, caves, rivers and lagoons of the Villarrica National Park.
Noted for its glorious natural beauty and dominated by the towering volcano which gives the park its name, the Villarrica National Park is the center of tourist activity in this region. Here we find extensive forests of monkey puzzle trees and lenga in the higher parts, as well as raulí and coigüe in the lower parts. These woods provide an environment for a variety of fauna, of which the puma is the most prized sightings. To get to the volcanic caves we will drive up the northern slope of the volcano, passing through native forest for about half an hour. Formed by lava spill many centuries ago, the caves take up some exceptional forms and can be explored inside.
