Sendero de los Lagos

Spectacular vistas, wildlife sightings, beautiful orchids and sparkling lakes and lagoons await on this 9.5 mile hike.

This alternative trek starts with a 90 minute drive around Lago Sarmiento to the attractive Laguna Verde and the cosy Estancia Lazo (also known as Hosteria Mirador del Paine). From here we begin our 9.5 mile trek towards Lago Toro, the park's biggest lake. Along the way we will cross through verdant lenga forest and open fields, reaching the shores of Laguna Verde and Laguna Honda and keeping an eye out for some of the Patagonian bird and wildlife found here, including owls and woodpeckers, as well as perhaps roaming guanacos. We might also encounter delicate orchids and wild flowers in the forests.

Climbing upwards, we will enjoy spectacular 360 degree views of the Paine Massif to the north and Lago Toro and endless pampa in the southwest. The trail then drops about 500 metres over the final hour to the roadside pick-up point back to the hotel
