La Paz Waterfall Gardens

Observe a variety of beautiful butterflies and hummingbirds up close and marvel at spectacular waterfalls.

Located near the capital San Jose and the Poas Volcano, the La Paz Waterfall Gardens encompasses five magnificent waterfalls, a hummingbord garden, the world's largest enclosed butterfly observatory and an orchid garden. Throughout are scenic trails with viewing platforms from which to appreciate the natural beauty. The enclosed observatory allows butterflies to soar freely, with paths leading you through the natural habitat, whilst the hummingbird garden attracts more species than any other in Costa Rica, 16 in total.

The gardens are best combined with the nearby Poas Volcano and perhaps the Doka Coffee Plantation on a day excursion from Costa Rica.
