Capital Airport is located 35 km northeast of Beijing's city centre, in the Shunyi District. It is the busiest airport in Asia with over 92 million passengers moved annually. It can be accessed by Airport Shuttle bus, which runs from 4:00 until 01:00, intercity buses, private taxis and car hire. The airport capital train operates from 06:20 until 23:00 hours. Journey time 30 minutes to Dongzhimen central station, the ticket cost of 25 Yuen, (GBP3), it runs every ten minutes. This service operates only from Terminal 2 and 3.

 

The visa-free transit: This is a policy has been implemented when taking an international transfer via Capital Airport. The policy applies to citizens from 53 countries who hold a ticket to connect travel to a third country (region) with confirmed seats and a departure time within 144 hours. This visa-free transit policy applies for British passengers as well as most European citizens.

Currently Beijing Capital is large, modern and very busy, it is the only airport in the Asian-Pacific region with 3 terminals, 3 runways and 2 towers, all operating simultaneously. Star Alliance carriers, Air China and Hainan Airlines have this airport as their hub.

 

Terminal 1: Only operates domestic flights to major Chinese cities.

Terminal 2: Operates domestic and international flights of over 35 airlines.

Terminal 3: Operates domestic and international flights, T3-C & T3-D for domestic departures and T3-E for international departures. This terminal is one of the largest terminal buildings in the world.  It has 120 boarding gates which are distributed in three concourses, C, D&E

 

Connections:

Minimum connecting times:

Domestic to International in the same terminal: 50 Minutes for domestic flights

Domestic to international from T1 / T2 120 minutes and to T3, 160 minutes.

 

Transfers between terminals: Passengers have at their disposal 24 hours inter-terminal shuttle services. Schedule and departing points as follows:

Terminal 1: Departure Floor, first level, next to  Gate 7, 15 minutes to T3, 9 minutes to T2

Terminal 2: Departure Floor, first level, next to Gate 7, 9 minutes to T3

Frequency: 10-15 minutes. There is also a walkway from T1 to T2, 10 minutes’ walk

 

Terminal 3: Departure Floor, next to Gate 5. To transfer between the buildings in T3, there is an airport express light-rail service that links both buildings in four minutes, frequency every three minutes.

Female-only security desk is available in the three terminals.

 

TERMINAL 1:

HNA Club: Airside, 2nd Floor, on the left-hand side 10m after security checks. The lounge is open 5:00 AM – 11:00 PM.

 

TERMINAL 2:

BGS Premier Lounge: Airside near Gate 11. Lounge Access: Prepaid lounge passes available. The lounge is not accessible to passengers travelling on Domestic flights. The lounges are open from 4:40 AM – last scheduled flight departs Air China First & Business Class Lounge: Airside. TERMINAL 3:

Air China First & Business Class Lounge: Terminal 3C Airside – Domestic Departures. After Security Check counters, proceed towards Gates C19-30. Take escalator on the left to next level to where the lounge is located. The lounge is open 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM (Daily).

Air China First & Business Class Lounge: Terminal 3D Domestic Departures, Airside, Gate D10.

Air China First & Business Class Lounge: Terminal 3E International, Airside. The lounge is open 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM (Daily).

BGS Premier Lounge: Terminal 3E International, Airside, near Gate E19 (Stand 519). The lounge is not accessible to passengers travelling on Domestic flights.
