Travel to Merida
Travel by road to Hacienda San Jose, located just outside Merida, an old colonial Hacienda with extensive grounds that has been lovingly converted into a deluxe country hotel. We stay for 3 nights.
The stunning rooms have high ceilings and unique décor evoking the splendour of the past, with exposed beams, beautiful wooden beds and cool tile floors. The stonewalls hold woven cotton hammocks, for which Yucatan is famous, allowing you to sleep in the Mayan style if you wish. Public facilities include a large swimming pool, bars, 5 different dining areas, lush gardens to explore and an authentic feel of understated luxury.

Today we visit the Puuc archeological site of Uxmal, considered to be the regional administrative and religious centre in the 7th to 10th century.
Discover the intricately decorated walls and well preserved House of the Magician. We also visit the extensive Puuc site of Kabah.
We continue to the colonial city of Campeche staying at the Hacienda Puerta Campeche for 3 nights, a luxurious base to explore this lesser-visited gem of the city.

The Hacienda Campeche is perfectly located in the centre of Campeche.
The rooms have been restored in their original style with high ceilings, wooden beams, hammocks and colourful wall decorations.
The Hacienda has a classical restaurant, bar, swimming pool, spa and fitness centre.
Campeche has much to explore including the nearby historic old town, now a UNESCO protected site, where the old buildings and churches have been restored to give a sense of what it must have been like in the colonial period. And in the evening, watch the sun go down in a bar looking out to sea.
Perhaps take an optional tour to the archeological site at Edzna, visit the Mayan Architectural Museum or the Museum of the City, explore the cathedral or just relax with the locals at one of the many cafes with delicious Mexican dishes such as Camaron de Coco (prawns in coconut).
