This excursion takes you out of the bustling centre to the southern part of Mexico City and some of its lesser-visited parts. We start in the residential area of El Pedregal and the Lava Gardens of San Angel, where we can see the lava flow from an ancient eruption of Volcano Xitle. We continue on to the University City, whose iconic library building is covered in a striking mural by local artists and then on to the Olympic Stadium. The next stop is the popular Frida Kahlo museum, dedicated to the life and times of one of Mexico's most famous artists. This is where she was born and where she died and where she spent 25 years living with her husband Diego Riviera, also a noted artists. We end with a stroll through the animated and picturesque Saturday Bazaar, a handicraft market in the centre of the colonial San Angel quarter.
