It is best know for the two volcanoes which dominate and define its landscape, or the numerous hiking opportunities which it affords to visitors, but it also offers a stretch of inviting sand at the Playa Santo Domingo. As well as enjoying the cooling sea breeze and taking a dip in the sea, from here you can watch a variety of birds which nest nearby, or walk down to Playa Santa Cruz for excellent views of Ometepe's two volcanoes.
