On the Brazilian border, Punta del Diablo offers large and beautiful stretches of white sand.

The small coastal village of Punta del Diablo rises in the Rocha wilderness, a few kilometres from the Brazilian border. Normally, the small village has barely 900 inhabitants, mainly made up of fishermen and artisans. Summer is quite different: thousands of Brazilian and Argentinian tourists flock there, making the small village one of the largest seaside resorts in the whole country! Punta del Diablo was recently voted the most beautiful place in Uruguay by Lonely Planet magazine.

We stay in Punta del Diablo for its long sandy beaches, still very wild, and its pleasant weather. We recommend in particular Los Botes, Del Rivero and La Viuda beaches, which are still very well-preserved. It is also nice to just enjoy the colourful wooden houses in the city centre of the village. Strolling through the port and savouring fresh fish and seafood empanadas, offered by fishermen, is also a must-do!
