Travel to Colonia del Sacramento
Departure in the morning from your hotel in Buenos Aries to the pier (international flights not included), where we take the fast ferry across the River Plate to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. On arrival, we have a tour of the town, walking the cobbled streets and leafy squares exploring the colonial architecture. Colonia was founded by the Portuguese in 1680, alternating ownership with Spain numerous times, until it was the southern most reach of Brazil from 1817 to Independence in 1828. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage colonial town. We stay at a traditional hotel for 2 nights.

Wine tasting in Carmelo
Travel north on a full day guided tour of charming Carmelo with its main squares, museum, beach and small zoological garden. This region is known for its wineries and we visit the Finca Narbona Wine Lodge where we enjoy a tour of the farm and vineyards with included wine tasting and sample the excellent local cheeses they make on the property. Lunch is also included in the lodge restaurant today. It is a really authentic and enjoyable experience.
La Casa de los Limoneros
Located in the countryside outside Colonia and surrounded by the Uruguayan Pampa and old farms, the La Casa de los Limoneros is a charming guesthouse, European in style, with rustic Uruguayan decoration.
Its 14 rooms are simple but homely, each one with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool, gardens and the eponymous lemon groves.

Ferry and departure
We return to Montevideo and take the ferry back to Buenos Aires, where we transfer you back to your chosen hotel.
