HIPPIE-CHIC : A historical coastal village of colourful houses, stylish boutiques for interior decoration and hippie fashion and idyllic beaches surrounded by coconut trees and golden sand.

Appreciate the character of the Brazilian coastline, sandy breaches, palm trees, coconut groves and Hippie-Chic, in the village of Trancoso. A Historical Landmark dating back to the sixteenth century, Trancoso is a coastal paradise, with idyllic beaches surrounded by coconut trees and golden sand. The village, with its beautiful colored houses, is where you will find excellent restaurants and bars, boutique shops and local handicrafts, as well as one of the oldest churches from colonial times.

The main square, the famous "Quadrado" is surrounded by old fishermen houses with colourful facade, now converted into bars and restaurants with tables outside under the trees, small stylish shops and some boutique hotels; of which UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa, is the most famous. The interior decoration emphasizes local natural materials, wicker baskets and lampshades, wood carvings, weavings, paintings and art.

Trancoso’s eight beaches spread across 24 kilometres of pristine coastline, nestled under towering cliffs or alongside Atlantic rainforest and mangrove. These perfect stretches of sand are easily reachable from the Quadrado by foot, bicycle or horseback.

Barra do Rio Trancoso - the smallest beach closest to the Quadrado. Home to the UXUA Praia Bar.

Rio da Barra - at the point where the Atlantic Ocean and Barra River meet.

Nativos - social and vibrant, 3km long with pristine mangroves, coconut trees and coral reefs. Some great beach bars here.

Coqueiros - great for sporty types, with 400 metres of white sand and dense mangrove ideal for football and beach volleyball.

Rio Verde - slightly off the beaten track 2 km south of the village, but well worth the hike as there is much flora and fauna to discover.

Ponta de Itapororoca - a great walking destination with turquoise waters and spare vegetation.

Patimirim - a deserted swathe of sand punctuated by wildflowers, quite beautiful. 

Itaquena - a wonderful beach, great for surfers and often deserted.
