The Rosario Islands are a national park located about an hour by boat from Cartagena. Here you will find an archipelago with one of the most well preserved coral reefs in the Caribbean, plus enjoy time to relax in a chilled laid back atmosphere, the perfect contract to sightseeing in Cartagena. Activities include snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing, trekking, kayaking in mangroves and relaxing on the miles of white sandy beaches. There is also an aquarium and oceanarium to visit.
The Laguna Encantada is a special lagoon that glows in a clear sky after dark due to the phosphorescent plankton that inhabit the lagoon. The seafood here is all fresh and taken from the sea - wonderful.
It is possible to visit the Islands in a day trip from Cartagena, but we recommend a couple of nights in the superb Punta Faro Hotel on Mucura Island, the best hotel in the Islands.
