Explore the natural wonders of the Amazon rainforest in the southern part of Colombia, with the mighty Amazon River running downstream from Peru

The Amazon rainforest extends into southern Colombia with over 400,000 square kilometres of rainforest, much of it unexplored. The Amazon represents about 35% of Colombia’s today territory. The mighty Amazon River runs through the area, running downstream from Peru through to Brazil on its journey to the Atlantic Ocean.

The Amazon can be reached by flying to Leticia, located on the banks of the Amazon river with two museums showcasing the natural wonders of the Amazon and indigenous local communities.

From Leticia, you can take a river boat up river to a selection of lodges, from where you can spend a few days discovering this unique habitat with local guides on foot or by canoe. The Colombian Amazon is less developed than its Peruvian neighbour.
