Sausmarez Manor, parts of which date to the early 13th century, has been altered, reduced and added to over the years with major changes in Tudor, Queen Anne, Regency and Victorian times.

The front of the house is regarded as the finest example of Queen Anne Colonial architecture in Britain. It was built between 1714 & 1718 at the bequest of Sir Edmund Andros, the 1st Governor of New York.

The current family has resided here for around 600 years, each generation leaving their mark on the house and the contents.

Sausmarez is one of Britain’s southernmost Subtropical Gardens, with collections of bamboo, camellias, palm trees, ginger lilies, cyclamen and snowdrops.

The house is believed to be haunted and ghost tours are conducted by the Seigneur speaking from personal experience covering around 10 hauntings.

You’ll also find a train ride, 9 hole pitch and putt course and a popular tearoom.
