The Cabécar are an indigenous group speaking the Cabecar dialect, a language belonging to the Chibchan language family of the Isthmo-Colombian area of lower Central America. The Cabécar are the largest indigenous group in Costa Rica with a population of nearly 17,000 and their reserves preserve ecological diversity, traditional subsistence living and ancient cultures.

Travel to Puerto Viejo
After breakfast, take a 3 hour rafting trip back along the river, from where we continue by private car to Puerto Viejo. On arrival, check into the delightful Le Cameleon Boutique Hotel for a 5-night stay on a bed and breakfast basis.
The hotel is located a stones throw from Playa Cocles, a crowd-free sandy beach, perfect for relaxing, surfing, or swimming. The hotel is also an excellent base to explore many attractions including Yorkin Indigenous Reservations, Cahuita National Park, Manzanillo's wildlife refuge, the national monument and Turrialba Volcano, Gandoca Lagoon Boat Trip and birdwatching tours.
