Costa Rica's beaches offer miles of secluded golden sand on which to relax and unwind in the shade of gently swaying coconut palms.

Costa Rica is a country that encourages adventure and activity, so spending a few days on the idyllic beaches that line its coasts is an ideal way to relax and unwind after your adventures. The country is fortunate enough to have two impressive coastlines, one on the Caribbean side and another on the Pacific, and it is on the latter where we find some of the best beaches.

Manuel Antonio National Park is an area of tropical rainforest and beautiful white sandy beaches, within easy reach of the capital San Jose. Visitors are attracted here by the combination of the wonderful scenery, the exotic animal population and the relaxation and seclusion afforded along the coastline.

Playa Esterillos is a long secluded section of the Pacific coast, with little else nearby and few local amenities it offers travellers perfect isolation in which to stroll, surf or simply relax amid beautiful scenery.

Further north is Guanacaste, whose various bays, peninsulas and protected areas afford wonderful opportunities for bird-watching, surfing and snorkelling in the driest part of the country.
