Explore the highlights of Ubud on foot in the company of our expert local guide. Lunch included.

Explore and discover the many charms of Ubud on foot. Start with a visit to Ubud's Sacred Monkey Forest. This heavily forested park features three ancient Hindu temples, beautiful jungle-covered statues, and, of course, several groups of indigenous macaques.

Continue along Hanoman Street to a local community space to learn how to make the unique Balinese offerings called Canang Sari, which are an integral part of Balinese life and their gratitude to the Gods. Refresh with a chilled coconut before going on a stroll across Ubud’s bustling art market. Browse the colourful stalls filled with handicrafts and textiles, meet with friendly locals, and bargain for unique souvenirs. Enter the somewhat inconspicuous gate to the house compound of well-known Ubud painter and architect I Gusti Nyoman Lempad. Along with other big names in Bali’s art scene, he formed the Pita Maha, a group of inspiring artists founded in 1936. He has built many of the palaces and temples in Ubud and its neighbouring villages. His grandson Gusti Gede Udayana is often at the house and will be happy to share his grandfather’s stories.

Enjoy lunch in a traditional restaurant (Warung). Only Steps away from the Ubud Palace, this local warung will offer a special experience with typical Balinese food within a Balinese house compound.

Continue to the Blanco Renaissance Museum, a quirky former private residence, and studio of painter Antonio Blanco. Explore the collection of his works, which span from different periods of his illustrious career, and hear the tales of the flamboyant, creative Ubud expat. Head to the bridge and hike up one of Ubud’s most scenic walking paths. Wander amid the verdant fields with panoramic views of the surrounding lush valleys.
